I’m Jennifer Frechette,
I am currently a senior, Nutrition and Wellness student at Framingham State University. My passion for nutrition grew from my love for food. I come from a family that looks forward to spending hours in the kitchen – dinner time on weeknights was rarely before 7:30. I grew up spending days learning how to bake with my grandmother and nights learning how to cook with my mom. It wasn’t a conscious decision, just a natural gravitation towards delicious food. At some point in my late teens I began to question how foods affect the body- more than just what is “healthy” and “unhealthy”. I started my own research on ways to make delicious dishes that make you feel as good as they taste. Eventually I decided to transfer from the culinary arts school I was attending to begin my journey into the world of nutrition.
As a New England native I’m a huge fan of making dishes that go with the changing of seasons, and with each new season comes a holiday to celebrate. I’ve always loved holidays- spending time with family, eating, drinking, and being merry. That being said, celebrating holidays (or even just the change in season!) can go on for weeks, and it’s nice to have some healthier dishes to choose from. I created Healthy Happy Holidays as part of a class project. I hope to use it as a space to share seasonal recipes with tidbits of nutritional insight along the way.
